What a Regear Costs in 2026

Real parts, labor and programmer numbers — and the line items shops quote differently.

A two-axle regear in 2026 runs $999 to about $2,700 all-in for common platforms, depending on parts brand, region and whether lockers join the job. Here's the stack, line by line, so a quote reads like a document instead of a number.

The parts

Ring and pinion plus install kits, both axles, typically total $999–$1,400 in parts before labor. That $999 figure is also the bottom of the honest all-in range: the shops advertising complete jobs near it are usually quoting one axle, or parts at cost with very sharp labor.

The labor

Expect $450–$650 per axle at independent 4x4 shops — a full day for both axles for a competent installer. Anchor case: a widely-respected Texas off-road builder publishes a JL/JT package at $2,300 all-in (gears, install kits, labor) — use it as the sanity midpoint for a two-axle job on a Wrangler or Gladiator. Dealer labor rates can run 40% higher.

How to read a quote

Ask for three things: the ratio and brand of both gear sets, whether master install kits are included per axle, and whether recalibration is in the number. With those answered, compare against the planner in the Decision System, which rebuilds your quote line by line and shows exactly where a given shop is rich or lean.
