Axles under this platform
- Dana 30 (M186) Carrier break: 3.73 (3.21/3.73 split: 3.73 & lower vs 3.92+ in JK application tables — verify carrier by part number before ordering). JK Dana 30 uses larger JK-specific gears than TJ. 5.13 pinion gets small; 4.88 is the sensible street/trail ceiling.
- Dana 35 (M200) Carrier break: 3.31 (3.07-3.31 low carrier; 3.55 & higher high carrier). 7.58-in ring, 27-spline c-clip shafts (TJ/JL M200 variant differs). The classic fuse axle: avoid lockers + 35s. Super 35 kits (30-spline) change the math.
- Dana 44 (M210) wide Carrier break: 3.92 (3.73 & down use one carrier; 3.92 & up the other — confirmed by Yukon carrier listings). Non-Rubicon TJ rear is 30-spline; Rubicon TJ is 32-spline rear with air/electric locker variants by year. Practical ratios 4.56-5.13 for 35-37s.
- Dana 44 (M220) wide Carrier break: 3.92 (3.73 & down use one carrier; 3.92 & up the other — confirmed by Yukon carrier listings). Non-Rubicon TJ rear is 30-spline; Rubicon TJ is 32-spline rear with air/electric locker variants by year. Practical ratios 4.56-5.13 for 35-37s.
- Dana 30 (M186) or Dana 44 by trim Carrier break: 3.73 (3.21/3.73 split: 3.73 & lower vs 3.92+ in JK application tables — verify carrier by part number before ordering). JK Dana 30 uses larger JK-specific gears than TJ. 5.13 pinion gets small; 4.88 is the sensible street/trail ceiling.
- Dana 35 (M200) or Dana 44 by trim Carrier break: 3.31 (3.07-3.31 low carrier; 3.55 & higher high carrier). 7.58-in ring, 27-spline c-clip shafts (TJ/JL M200 variant differs). The classic fuse axle: avoid lockers + 35s. Super 35 kits (30-spline) change the math.
Sport/Sahara: Dana 30 M186 front, Dana 35 M200 rear — practical regear ceiling 5.13, but the M200 is the weak link on 37s. Rubicon: wide Dana 44 M210 front / M220 rear, factory lockers, practical ceiling 5.38. JL uses FAD (front axle disconnect) on most non-Rubicon trims.
